1/ The Online Retail Market Report for the first half of 2024 published by Metric shows that Vietnam’s e-commerce continues to grow steadily with a growth rate of over 54% in both sales and output. In the first half of the year, the top 5 e-commerce platforms including Shopee, Lazada, Tiki, Sendo and Tiktok Shop recorded sales of 143,900 billion VND with 1,533 million products successfully delivered to customers, up 54.91% and 65.55% respectively over the same period last year.
2/ In the product categories, beauty, women’s fashion and home – living continue to lead in sales and output on all 5 e-commerce platforms. In particular, the low-cost segment under 200,000 VND still maintains strong appeal, with market share increasing by 3% compared to the same period last year.
3/ Forecasting the second half of the year, Metric said that the end of August and early September, the back-to-school season, is always the “golden” time for the stationery industry on e-commerce platforms. Sales of this industry in the past two months have increased sharply, with August 2023 recording sales of up to 254 billion VND, an increase of 24% compared to the previous month. Consumers flocked to buy pens, books, and art supplies to prepare for the new school year, making the market more exciting than ever. The Stationery industry will focus on sales in the low-cost segment under 50,000 VND.
4/ In the first half of the year, Vietnamese e-commerce witnessed the dominance of major brands in the phone and tablet industry. In the top 10 brands with the highest sales, there were 4 brands in this industry, including familiar names such as Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi. This shows the strong demand of consumers for technology products. In addition, Honda appeared on the list for the first time, proving that Vietnamese people now trust and are willing to spend money on high-value products on online platforms.
